INFORMATION ABOUT PLANNING, CONTENT AND EXPECTATIONS

You will find it's a considerable amount of work to prepare your company's materials for the web pages we will construct for you. Think of us as your company's graphic designers. You supply the raw materials and we assemble them into aesthetic, graphically pleasing, easy-to-read web pages.

Basic web design pricing includes everything the average small business needs for a web site. Please make note of what is included and what extra charges may apply, as well as what is expected from the client.

  • Your website is created with the Simple Creative Site Builder software which exists on the hosting server.

  • You may choose to update your own website with the easy to use back end available online from any computer.

  • A custom template is created for your site which repeats itself for every page.

  • A header is located on top of the page and a navigation menu can be placed on the left, right, or across the top. Please note that "drop down" menus are not available.

Charges only apply to the set-up design aspect.

 

COPY (TEXT)

  • The client must provide the copy for the website. Simple Creative does not provide writing or copy editing services.

  • Please set up a separate text file for each web page and save the file as the page's title.

  • Text writen using Notepad and saved as a .txt file is preferred. This allows only the simplest formatting using paragraphs and capital letters. The designer then formats the text as it should look on the web page.

  • Please do not send drafts of your text. Send only your final version. Minor changes and corrections are expected once the web page is prepared, however extra charges will apply to format and insert brand new text.

  • Web pages which contain more than 1,200 words may be subject to additonal charges, especially if they require a good deal of formatting.

 

IMAGES

  • The quality appearance of your website has a lot to do based on the photos or graphics you choose. Snapshots and clipart tend to make the website look amateur. Professional and stock photos are recommended.

  • Prepare captions for each photo and indicate which web page you would like it on. Then email the images making sure you mail program does not "shrink" them for sending.

  • Hourly fees apply if you would like Simple Creative to search for images for you.

  • If you need preparation of specialized graphic elements (eg. maps), extra fees apply.

  • Aproximately 2000 stock photographs are available and their use is included with your website. If you need additional stock images istockphoto.com is a great place to find them.

  • Basic web design pricing includes approximately 2 photos/graphics per page.

 

HOSTING

  • Your web site and hosting are part of one package. The site is created with intergrated website creation software that exists on the hosting server.

  • You are required to pay for the hosting ($20 per month billed annually at $240) via your own credit card online with one week of project start.

  • If you do not have a domain name please purchase one at directnic.com (for .com .net .org) or netfirms.ca (for .ca).

  • If you do have a domain already you are responsible for its management and for setting it to point to your website. Your domain registrar can help you with that.

  • Clients without any technical web design knowledge may easily update their own website by logging into their account online or Simple Creative can maintain and update the website.

 

FEES

50% cheque deposit is required to begin the project and the balance is due upon completion.

A completion date is set and the client is required to provide all the content necessary at least one week prior to the completion date.

If client has not provided all the necessary content in time, final payment is due on the completion date and the website may be finalized after.
